Summer is but a memory now, as the final remains of autumnal hues start to slip into the shadows of 5pm sunsets. It is upon us, Buffalo. Winter is right around the corner, so it’s time to start getting your apartment ready. Don’t let yourself get caught off-guard with high bills or unnecessary risks. Here are 5 things to remember to get yourself, and your place prepped for winter.
Clean Up the Apartment To Stay Immune
Using sanitary cleaning products, make your apartment sparkle. You’re going to need to sanitize everything to avoid viruses from spreading in your apartment. Here are a few tips for cleaning your apartment. Cover your coughs, eat well, and keep up on getting good sleep. A clean apartment is a happy apartment!
Conserve Energy To Save Money
Keep in mind the temperature you have your thermostat kept at. Try to leave it at a modest temperature to avoid trying to heat up a frozen apartment. If you live in a larger apartment in Buffalo, and you spend most of your time in one particular room, consider leaving the thermostat lower and getting yourself an energy efficient space heater.
Get Yourself a Few Candles
Long nights and short days means you won’t catch much daylight. And when you do, it’s bound to be cold out. While you’re getting through the few months of darkness, add a little candlelight to the atmosphere. The light and aroma will help relieve the anxiety and stress from work or school.
Switch Up Your Decor
Add a little winter flavor to your apartment! Give the place a nice woodsy, seasonal feel. Think about changing your window treatments to something more inviting and lighter. Being trapped inside can be fun, consider how many crafts you can create and decorate with your creations! This type of homemade decoration makes for a great conversation piece when you’re having guests over.
Find A Plant or Two
Considering everything outdoors will be dried out and dead throughout winter, think about getting a few indoor plants to freshen up your apartment. Not only to they offer an aesthetic appeal, but they actually help filter the air in your apartment!
There’s no need to worry about the impending Buffalo winter. We have all done this every year, even though every year it seems it gets harder to let go of the summer sun. If you or someone you know is looking for an apartment in Buffalo, remember the name Kissling. We have apartments and lofts all over the city, and we continue to grow. Apartment Spotlight- Remington Lofts
Lofts in Buffalo NY
In this installment of our Buffalo Apartment Spotlight blog series, we’re checking out the Remington Lofts, a Kissling Interests property in North Tonawanda, New York. Widely known as one of WNY’s most modern and esteemed loft locations, the Remington Lofts are truly something special for all who live there. Let’s find out what all the hype is about.
The building itself was converted from what used to be the old Remington Rand factory, which made typewriters. Now, the grounds still represent the spirit and grit of the old factory, with exposed brick and sculpture tributes to typewriter arms, but there is a much more modern feel to the space.
The front of the building is lined with garage-style doors that open up the main lobby to the elements on warm summer days, and the rooms themselves boast new appliances and spacious floor plans. There are also options for gated off-street parking and heated garage space, which our tenants much appreciate during Buffalo winters.
The Remington Lofts also provide some of the coolest views and scenery of all our Kissling properties. Seated directly across from the historic Erie Canalway, these apartments offer the beauty and natural feel of the suburbs while still located only a short drive from the city of Buffalo. There is also a rooftop garden for residents to enjoy and get a chance to soak up some sun.
They may not be located in the heart of the city, but there’s still plenty to do living at the Remington Lofts. The living areas themselves are connected directly with The Remington Tavern and Seafood Exchange, a great restaurant and bar that encapsulates the aesthetic of the lofts and gives you a great place to eat and relax. The lofts are also only 15 minutes from Buffalo, and 10 minutes from Niagara Falls, the Seneca Niagara Casino, and the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls.
In the summer, the area is bustling with festivals, boating, and canal activities, and several great restaurants are within walking distance of the apartments.
